šŸƒ Meet our new team member Hannah van de Kerkhof!

Growing up at the beach in The Hague, Hannah was concerned about climate change and sea level rise from the age of 6. After completing her master’s degree in chemistry and writing my thesis on toxic additives in plastics, she wanted to make a difference in the world and left the chemical laboratory. Working as a consultant in plastics and circular economy showed her the complexity of the system we are in, and she am now combining both her experience of working in the lab with my knowledge in sustainability and circular economy. With her expertise she is a great addition to the team!

Hannah: “Since September last year, I am working at the Hubrecht Institute in Utrecht as Sustainability Officer. Our Green Team has already put sustainability at the agenda in our institute, and my job is to translate our ambitions into a workable action plan and sustainability strategy. With lots of different labs and groups working on various types of research, I am looking into all possibilities to lower the environmental impact of our research. But to be honest, the work of a ā€˜transition manager’ is also to support employees with change, and listen to all concerns to make sure we take the right steps, while everyone is on board. To succeed, you need to have the right people on your ship. I like the challenge and love to have this community to share ideas and drive change even faster!”
